WSFL Offensive Player of the Week

Mesa College Thunderbirds Football - Week 4 WSFL 2016

NOTE: After publishing the WSFL award this morning, the NJCAA announced his National Offensive POTW award..

The best award for any quarterback is a team win. It is nice to be picked from amongst the many great players in a top conference like the WSFL, Western States Football League of the NJCAA as the Offensive Player of the Week. Rathen Ricedorff is 24, he is married, a family, school, is a lot to keep up with. Now his wife Kizzy has more stuff to keep track of. Rathen's third WSFL Offensive Player of the week award, in five games. Yep, pretty good stats. He picked up two last season before he ripped up his hand, while not playing football. Freak accident.

Only one thing could make the award better. He earned it while helping his Mesa Thunderbirds knock off the NJCAA's number one team, the Snow Badgers, in their house. The score 33-19. The stats 292 yards passing, 3 TD's, and 45 yards rushing.

This is what his Head Coach Ryan Felker said about him: "Rathen is a 24 year old married, coaches son, and returned missionary that bounced back from Arizona State University.  In my opinion the most competitive, mature, leader (Winner) we have had at QB, he is a creator - when I call the wrong play he makes it the right one, makes plays with his arm and feet. He will step into a Division 1 program next season and produce immediately."

Rathen and his team the Thunderbirds are worth the trip to see them play, if you cannot attend, you can get the watch online link on our schedule page. . . .
