Vince Amey DL coach UA Wildcats

Vince Amey AC DL is in his fourth year at UA. 2016 is his first as the defensive line coach. He was promoted from an analyst position. I first met Vince when I was covering the Arizona Rattlers of the AFL. His experience playing for the ASU Sun Devils, in the NFL, NFL Europe and the AFL give him a wealth of knowledge. He also coached at the High School Level. Gone are his dreadlocks, but his amazing personality, that he has kept.

Find out how his wife reacted when she realized he cut his dreads. He tells us how much this opportunity means, what a blessing it is. His boss, the new DC Marcel Yates and what he brings to make this a better defensive unit. Surprise note, Vince is the oldest coach on the defense at 41.

His background: At Arizona State he was a four letterman as a defensive tackle. Played as a true freshman in 94. Also on the 96 & 97 Pac 10 Championship teams. Started at DT in the 1997 Rose Bowl.

Pro playing experience: Drafted by the NFL Oakland Raiders, played in NFL Europe on the 1999 Frankfurt Galaxy Championship team. Then played in the Arena League with the Arizona Rattlers.

He spent time coaching in High School including on the Chaparral Firebirds 2011 Championship squad.

He and his wife Kelley enjoy being a family with the boys, Myles including twins Dallas and Jackson.
